We will fight India’s BPO challenge says UK

Big arrangements are taking place in UK to counter the Offshore BPO Services, against countries like India etc. UK has launched a major operation to improve its infrastructure as an anti-Offshore BPO move, even though the smaller companies are going for Offshore BPO Services.

Since this year Britain has lost many jobs due to Offshore BPO to low-cost countries, especially India. Now a campaign has been launched, which also includes the Confederation of British Industry, which will work towards stopping the flow of jobs Offshore. With a £2.5 million funding over three years from the North West Development Agency, a project "CallNorthWest" hosted by the University of Central Lancashire has just been launched.

The campaign brings together businesses, academics, councils, government agencies and trade unions, with one mission, and that is to train a potent workforce for BPO jobs and then to lobby industry to try and keep BPO jobs onshore, instead to Offshore locations like India etc.

The initiative intends to raise the profile of the Offshore BPO Services sector as one of the most important employers in the region, and ensure that the northwest is a preferred location for work. Small to medium companies will be approached in the region to sign up to the ethos of keeping jobs onshore.
