BPO revenue up to $13.8 billion by 2007: Gartner
Gartner has predicted that the BPO revenue will come to be around $13.8 up from a mere $1 billion in 2002. India does have a huge share of the offshore market. The global offshore market showed a jump to reach $1.8 bn, an increase from the $1.3 bn in 2002.
As everybody would have realized that the success of offshore BPO really depends on knowing that the firms which have done it before have done it satisfyingly and have had some success. Then with some word of mouth more firms will follow suit. Since it is a relatively new concept, firms are taking a cautious way of approach towards it, as is natural, that all new things take time to adjust. So although offshore delivery will continue, it will be relatively slower than the hype associated with it, during the last year.
Although the BPO market is growing, it is still at its nascent stage, which was stressed during the survey conducted by Gartner. In the survey of 250 U.S. clients of BPO, amazingly only 1 percent of these enterprises are currently outsourcing BPO services offshore and only 19 are planning to outsource their processes within two years.
